REEFLEX Project Horizon

Energy solutions and services for demand flexibility.

REEFLEX-Horizon “Replicable, interoperable, cross-sector solutions and energy services for demand-side flexibility markets”

Duration: 48 months. Start date: January 2023

‘Replicable, interoperable and cross-sector energy solutions and services for demand-side flexibility markets’

The overall objective of REEFLEX is to develop a set of viable, interoperable solutions and services that increase the participation of energy consumers in demand-side flexibility (DSF) markets.

REEFLEX places particular emphasis on the demonstration and replication of these solutions across seven different countries with varying energy constraints to ensure interoperability.

Services and solutions for the flexibility markets

These IT services and tools are based on the development of a central interoperable platform, which acts as an energy marketplace to connect all types of stakeholders in the cross-sectoral energy system, facilitating their access to any flexible market (local, national, European) and providing a range of interactions and services from the catalogue tailored to their energy needs.

Key Objectives

Objetive 1

To develop a catalogue of bespoke flexibility services and interoperable tools for specific consumer groups, powered by AI and automated, applicable to a wide range of devices, hardware and software.

Objetive 2

To develop a central service platform and an energy marketplace that connects all stakeholders in the system to facilitate their participation in flexibility markets, thereby reducing barriers to entry and transaction costs.

Objetive 3

To harmonise technical, sustainability, environmental, economic and social parameters, whilst ensuring that privacy, cybersecurity and data management issues are thoroughly considered and properly addressed.

Objetive 4

Classify all assets installed on the grid according to their flexibility potential and SRI, enhancing them with interoperability capabilities to increase their demand-side mobilisation capabilities.

Objetive 5

To carry out a demonstration programme at four main demonstration sites, with cross-site replication, covering different energy sectors (electricity, heating/cooling, gas, combustion systems) in order to obtain reliable results regarding its future replication and ensure its appeal to stakeholders in the energy sector.

Objetive 6

Explore the full potential for replicating solutions, taking into account cost-benefit analyses and technical and regulatory barriers in three additional replication sites (Turkey, Denmark, Portugal), bringing the total to seven different countries.

Objetive 7

To ensure that the project’s results are put to good use by developing appropriate business plans and disseminating them through knowledge-sharing with other projects under the BRIDGE Initiative, which brings together all demonstration projects relating to smart grids and energy storage.

Key Projects

We strengthen the competitiveness of energy consumers and producers through technology and digital innovation, delivering solutions that drive a positive and sustainable impact on society.
